As it is so rare to find property that is both on the lake and in-town, our goal was to design a home that was just as unique as the property. Located in the charming city of Northville, this home reflects the styles of the existing downtown homes that surround it and the lot that it is on. From a design standpoint, infill housing can create interesting challenges. This home reflects the uniqueness of the property, taking full advantage of the location. It defines, “in-town, lake front living.”
This in-town, urban farmhouse is a total transformation from its humble beginnings. Located within walking distance to downtown Plymouth, it was important to capture the context of the homes in the surrounding area, yet still add elements of distinction to create an individual aesthetic. The tight lot was challenging; however, the home came to life through employing creative solutions. The style of the home remains stubbornly authentic through the use of rich interior and exterior detailing.
